Apply for Financial Aid for the 2020-2021 School Year Today - We encourage all families to apply!
For the 2019-2020 year, our families received over $165, 000 from Business Leaders Organized for Catholic Schools, Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia, Foundation for Catholic Education, the Bridge Educational Foundation and the St. Mary School Financial Aid Program.
If you qualify for but are not awarded assistance through BLOCS, CSF, or FCE, we will try our best to assist as many qualified families as possible. The St. Mary School Financial Aid Program designates a portion of its Annual Giving Campaign to provide scholarships to as many qualified families as possible from funds donated by our generous supporters.
FINANCIAL AID AND TUITION ASSISTANCE:
Visit the Archdiocese of Philadelphia website at https://www.aopcatholicschools.org/financial-aid/ for additional information.
Our school code is 91072.
While the application period officially extends into the summer for BLOCS, we strongly encourage all families to apply for financial aid as soon as possible as historically, the earlier an application is received, the more likely funding is available for qualified families.
PA TAX Credit Program:
The majority of these funds came from the PA Tax Credit Program which allows businesses and individuals to direct their PA taxes to our school providing access to an outstanding Catholic education to many of our students. There are two main scholarship organizations that help secure and distribute these funds to our school. They are Business Leaders Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) and the Foundation for Catholic Education (FCE). BLOCS and FCE serve our school in the same capacity.
Personal Tax Credit - Special Business Partnerships Utilizing The Pennsylvania Educational Tax Credits for Personal Taxes
A special-purpose limited liability company established to provide tuition assistance scholarships to low-income families through the use of Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs. These programs allow members to receive up to a 90% tax credit against their personal PA state tax liability. Essentially, you turn your PA tax liability into scholarships!
Business Tax Credit
Businesses in Pennsylvania can receive up to a 90% tax credit by donating to BLOCS through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs. By directing tax dollars your business will already be paying, you can help provide a quality education for children who otherwise would not be able to afford it. The EITC & OSTC PA tax credits allow businesses to make these donations to BLOCS for pennies on the dollar. BLOCS relies on your EITC and OSTC donations to enable children in poverty-stricken areas to attend a Catholic School.
We encourage you to visit both scholarship organizations' websites and review the attached brochure.
The Foundation for Catholic Education will be holding a few informational webinars this spring. Please click here for more information.
