St. Mary Interparochial School Community walks to a historical site within the Old City neighborhood. Pledges are obtained before the walk and interest in the site is raised through classroom activities prior to the walk, which usually takes place on the third Friday of May.

Our 2011 Walkathon was a success! This year we honored our Police and Fire Departments. Both departments sent representatives to our school last week to talk to our children about safety in the home and safety in the streets. All students made badges that honored one of our fallen heroes. On the day of the walkathon they each looked for the name of their person on the memorial in Franklin Square. A carnation was placed on the monument in their honor. After our stop in Franklin Square we headed to Fireman's Hall Museum. There is a lot to see there. We loved our police escorts! Thank you, once again who participated in this amazing event.

In honor of those who died in the line of duty, students and parents placed flowers on the memorial for fallen heros at Franklin Square. This was one of many stops on this year's walkathon saluting Philadelphia's men and women in blue.
