Call to Action: EITC/OSTC Programs in Pennsylvania

Dear Faith in the Future Supporters,

Earlier this summer, Pennsylvania's Speaker of the House, Representative Mike Turzai, put forward a proposal to increase by $20 million the tax credits available under the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program and the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) program. Although such an increase could fund thousands of additional scholarships, the proposal has been shelved due to political infighting.

The EITC and the OSTC programs have always achieved bipartisan support and have been acclaimed as two of the best educational programs that Pennsylvania offers as it benefits students in both public and private schools. The tax credit scholarships have been an investment that has paid dividends for students all across the Commonwealth Pennsylvania, but especially for those most in need of better educational options.

Each year more than 40,000 families get a scholarship that permits parents to send their children to a school that best meets their needs. At no additional cost to taxpayers, these scholarships give families a choice and often a life-saving educational opportunity for their children.

Now that the PA House and Senate are back in session, we need your help to urge all lawmakers to invest in student success and support the expansion of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC).
